WOBA DRESDEN continues with demolitions as laid down in the Social Charter
2/26/2007
- 75 termination notices due to demolition personally delivered to lessees
- Offer of replacement apartments and financial support for relocation
WOBA DRESDEN is proceeding with the demolition program as planned. The demolition of Sternhaus D (Kurt-Tucholsky-Strasse 1-7 and Erich-Kästner-Strasse 4-6) is planned for 2008. A demolition agreement for these buildings has been signed with the regional capital of Dresden. With this, WOBA DRESDEN is fulfilling its obligations arising out of the Dresden Social Charter, according to which the demolition program must proceed "without abatement", "particularly in view of the sheer number of residential units to be demolished."
It is necessary that all lessees be moved before demolition can proceed. Termination notices pertaining to their apartments are being personally delivered to the 75 affected lessees in Sternhaus D on Monday and Tuesday of this week (February 26 and 27) by employees of WOBA DRESDEN. The lessees have already been informed in advance through meetings and one-on-one discussions.
WOBA DRESDEN employees will be available at the service office at Christian-Morgenstern-Strasse to address any concerns the lessees may have with regard to these notices. WOBA DRESDEN would like to see those affected by the demolition continue as lessees. In addition to replacement apartments, financial support for relocation can also be arranged.
